STOP - It's Grammy time

The awards season is underway and Yours Truly is pleased beyond measure. I love a good awards show.

First off, was the Golden Globes telecast, which I yawned my way through. I will say, though, that one of the things that sucks me into the Golden Globe telecast is that we see the stars in their habitat. Eating, drinking, shmoozing and, yes, stumbling. For me, the highlight of the night was watching each star negotiate their way through the maze of tables and chairs.

Let's not kid ourselves - you know what I'm talking about: "The Golden Globe goes to"... then, the star's name is announced. They jump up with the surprised look, hug their spouse, significant other or [uh-hem] "date", at which point, they look around with the stunned "how in the hell do I get up there" look. Some of them made it. While others stumbled, and recovered - I wont name any names - Julianna Margulies.

Then, we had the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. This is when the actors of the small and large screens get together to congratulate each other on how great they are. All the while, they suck up to the union which has supplied them the award. The producers of the SAG awards wised up ... all of the tables were long banquet tables and were placed in a diagonal manner, making the trip to the stage much faster and less dangerous.

And, thank goodness - when Betty White was given SAG's Lifetime Achievement Award, I was thankful that the unsteady 88 year old didn't have to try to make the trek through the labyrinth. Bless her heart.

Now, it's GRAMMY time. The GRAMMY Awards will be telecast this Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 8:00 PM on CBS.

In addition to all of the GRAMMYs it's handing out, The Recording Academy® is going to present the President's Merit Award to Pl├ícido Domingo for his cultural contributions and artistic accomplishments in the classical genre.

The Grammy Salute To Classical Music will be held at The Broad Stage and will take place as part of GRAMMY Week — a weeklong celebration leading up to the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards telecast.

Did I mention that the GRAMMY Awards will be telecast this Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 8:00 PM on CBS? Ok, so I did. But, I failed to mention that you could watch the Pre-Telecast ceremony starting at 1:00 PM PT.
