Streisand's magic touch...

Andrew Gans, from Playbill.com's blog Playblog, has pointed out something very interesting about the new Barbra Streisand disc. With it's release, Love Is the Answer, has given Barbra Streisand the distinction of becoming the first artist in history with #1 albums in five consecutive decades. Gans writes:
Her latest debuted in the top spot on the U.S. charts: Love Is the Answer sold 180,415 units for the week of Sept. 29. Her first #1 recording was People in 1964.

Streisand’s accomplishments also include 50 gold, 30 platinum and 13 multi-platinum albums. Here previous number #1 albums are
People (1964), The Way We Were (1974), Greatest Hits Volume II (1979), Guilty (1980), The Broadway Album (1985), Back to Broadway (1993) and Higher Ground (1997).

The acclaimed artist returns to her musical roots on the latest recording, which offers a mix of jazz, standards and personal favorites. The two-disc set boasts a first disc with orchestrations by Johnny Mandel and a second, more intimate take, featuring Streisand and Grammy-winning jazz musician Diana Krall and her quartet. “Love Is the Answer” marks Streisand’s 63rd album.
