The Drama Drop -

* For the first time in 27 years, Carrie Fisher is headed to Broadway. Wishful Drinking, Fisher's autobiographical one-woman show will open on Oct. 4 for a three-month limited engagement. Given the title, it's very fitting that Fisher will be performing at Studio 54, the famous den of disco iniquity that's now a Broadway house run by the Roundabout Theatre Company. Can't wait! The last time Yours Truly was in Studio 54 was to see John Stamos as the Emcee in Cabaret. Eek!

* Snøhetta, the architectural firm that designed the Oslo Opera House, has won the biannual Mies van der Rohe architecture prize and the $80,000 that goes with it. The building brought a very young Snøhetta from relative insignificance, to ultimate relevance. According to the jury chair Francis Rambert, "It is more than just a building. It is first an urban space, a gift to the city."
