The Drama Drop -

* Uh, Senator, your daughter is an Opera Singer... As we previously reported here at A Liberal's Libretto on Friday, the Senate voted 73-24 in favor of Sen. Tom Coburn's (R-Okla.) amendment "to ensure that taxpayer money is not lost on wasteful and non-stimulative projects," such as funding museums, theaters and arts centers. You may remember that Sen. Coburn's colleague Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., said "We trimmed the fat, fried the bacon and milked the sacred cows". Now, the LA Times has put two and two together. This ought to make for pleasant conversation in the Coburn family, considering Sen. Coburn's daughter is Sarah Coburn.

Sarah Coburn, you should know, is a rising star and is scheduled to sing her first L.A. Opera role in Handel's "Tamerlano," playing opposite Placido Domingo. What does Sarah have to say about Daddy's choice? "It's been ... Sarah's longtime policy not to comment on her father's career," said Stuart Wolferman, a spokesman for her New York management company. Sarah, maybe you ought to take a stand on this one. It effects more than just you!
