The Drama Drop -

Apparently, not only has the flow of $ toward arts organizations been slow, so has the flow of arts news.  But, leave it to A Liberal's Libretto to unearth a few tidbits for you.

*  The Kennedy Center takes the lead... Arts organizations in need of some advice can look to the Kennedy Center. "Arts in Crisis: A Kennedy Center Initiative" is based on a high-tech website that the Kennedy Center launched on which arts administrators can seek advice on how to keep their doors open.  What a fantastic idea.  This could be the first step to having some real national leadership in the arts.

*  The following is a DREAM scenario for an Opera Singer...  Polish tenor Piotr Beczala will sing Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor on Feb. 7, replacing Rolando Villazón who is ill. The 1 PM performance will be transmitted worldwide as part of The Met: Live in HD series.

*  My wife will be extremely disappointed...  Elton John is playing his final notes on the red piano in Las Vegas.  Promoters say the pop singer will close his Las Vegas Strip show, April 22.

*  How about a little Oscar fun?  You can cast your votes on a ballot and have the New York Times score it in real time on Oscar night, starting at 8 p.m. ET, Sunday February 22.
